چکیده

We present a microfabricated surface-electrode ion trap with a pair of integrated waveguides that generate a standing microwave field resonant with the 171Yb hyperfine qubit. The waveguides are engineered to position the wave antinode near the center of the trap, resulting in maximum field amplitude and uniformity along the trap axis. By calibrating the relative amplitudes and phases of the waveguide currents, we can control the polarization of the microwave field to reduce off-resonant coupling to undesired Zeeman sublevels. We demonstrate single-qubit π -rotations as fast as 1μs with less than 6% variation in Rabi frequency over an 800μm microwave interaction region. Fully compensating pulse sequences further improve the uniformity of X -gates across this interaction region. 5 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Fault-tolerant Landau-Zener quantum gates

We present a method to perform fault-tolerant single-qubit gate operations using Landau-Zener tunneling. In a single Landau-Zener pulse, the qubit transition frequency is varied in time so that it passes through the frequency of the radiation field. We show that a simple three-pulse sequence allows eliminating errors in the gate up to the third order in errors in the qubit energies or the radia...

A decoherence-free subspace in a charge quadrupole qubit

Quantum computing promises significant speed-up for certain types of computational problems. However, robust implementations of semiconducting qubits must overcome the effects of charge noise that currently limit coherence during gate operations. Here we describe a scheme for protecting solid-state qubits from uniform electric field fluctuations by generalizing the concept of a decoherence-free...

Two-qubit gates for resonant exchange qubits.

A new approach to single-qubit operations using exchange interactions of single electrons in gate-defined quantum dots has recently been demonstrated: the resonant exchange qubit. We show that two-qubit operations, specifically the controlled phase gate, can be performed between resonant exchange qubits very straightforwardly, using a single exchange pulse. This is in marked contrast to the bes...

Randomized benchmarking of single-qubit gates in a 2D array of neutral-atom qubits.

We characterize single-qubit Clifford gate operations with randomized benchmarking in a 2D array of neutral-atom qubits and demonstrate global and site selected gates with high fidelity. An average fidelity of F2=0.9983(14) is measured for global microwave-driven gates applied to a 49-qubit array. Single-site gates are implemented with a focused laser beam to Stark shift the microwaves into res...

Quantum information processing and cavity QED experiments with trapped Ca+ ions

Single trapped Ca ions, stored in a linear Paul trap and laser–cooled to the ground state of their harmonic quantum motion are used for quantum information processing. As a demonstration, composite laser pulse sequences were used to implement phase gate and CNOT gate operation. For this, Stark shifts on the qubit transitions were precisely measured and compensated. With a single ion stored insi...
